Freddie Mercury’s off-stage wardrobe
A yellow nylon bomber jacket with diagonal pockets, yellow knitted cuffs, elasticated waist and white towelling lining, unlabelled, circa late 1970s/early 1980s; a short-sleeved brown top with ribbon drawstring to neck, unlabelled, 1970s; a Hawaiian shirt printed with a retro design of sailing boats in shades of green, yellow and brown, labelled ‘Equipment Fashion Shirts’, 1980s; and pair of bronze/gold-coloured jean-style trousers labelled ‘Sassoon’, 1980s – there is a photograph by Brian May of Freddie wearing an identical top to the brown one included here, but in a pale blue colour, at Ridge Farm Recording Studio, 1975
