Freddie Mercury's suit worn for the BPI Brit Awards ceremony and Queen's 20th anniversary party, 1990
A bespoke two-piece suit of pale blue gabardine, designed, cut and tailored by David Chambers, the double-breasted jacket lined in dove grey ‘silk’, with two flap pockets and one breast pocket to front, single vent to back, fastening with six imitation mother-of-pearl buttons and with four similar buttons at each cuff; the trousers with pleated front and concealed fastening, the waistband and upper section lined in ivory ‘silk’, with belt attached the strap of woven grey wool with grey leather tongue and buckle attachment, brass buckle and loop; with a shirt of fine ivory self-patterned cotton fastening with six imitation mother-of-pearl buttons and with one similar button at each cuff, with woven ‘Shin Hosokawa’ label stitched inside below collar; with a tie of ivory silk woven in a striped pattern with three different shades of blue the lining woven with ‘Savoy Tailors Guild, London’ lettering; and an evening scarf of ivory satin with tasselled fringe at each end - 157 cm. long (incl. fringe); and a pair of bright pink canvas high top Converse ‘Chuck Taylor All Star’ sneakers, Size 9, [either unused or with minimal sign of wear] and the lower half of a ‘Converse’ All Star cardboard shoe box, 10 x 33 cm., containing a piece of folded paper handwritten with Freddie’s Garden Lodge address
